Card #6 - TECC52VC and Happy Australia Day!

Firstly can I say ... it's damn hot! About 42deg hot! Even the aircon is working overtime and poor Coco hasn't moved all day! Only problem is she is right in the doorway of my scrap room and I have almost tripped on her more than a few times. But since she is getting a nice draft down the hall she doesn't care enough to move.
Yes ... what a lady!
Here is Vicki Chrisman's Sketch for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge. 6 down, 3 to go!
And here is my card:

Supplies: Cardstock by stampin' up! Paper by fancy pants. Image is Cupcake-a-Bella by Stampin Bella. Fiskars threading water punch.

And to all of my Aussie blog readers ...

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend.

Card #5 - 2 challenges in 1

This card is based on a sketch by Ana Wohlfahrt. I also used Kristina Werner's colour challenge for this week. I thought I could upload till Sunday but the cutoff was Friday so I missed out :(
Oh well, at least I got it done!

Supplies: Card and paper by Stampin' Up! image by Stamping Bella, rubons by SU! Coloured with prisma colour pencils.

Card #4 in Taylor's Cupcake Challenge

This great sketch is from Donna Baker's blog. Once again I have used the pink pirouette papers as I wanted to keep the background softer.

Supplies: cardstock in pink pirouette, whisper white and chocolate chip. stamps from Crazy for Cupcakes set by Stampin' Up! Nestabilities templates used and ribbon added. Pretty simple card really!

Card #3 in Taylor's Cupcake Challenge

This sketch is from Stephanie Hargis' blog. The simple lines of this sketch really appeal to me.
The colours in my photo are a bit washed out, but the pink pirouette is such a pretty pink. The dotted ribbon also has pink spots on it.

Supplies: card in pink pirouette and basic black. DP in pink pirouette. Cupcake stamp by Hero Arts, greetings from the Crazy for Cupcakes set from Stampin' Up. Just added some miscellaneous ribbons and some stitching and added a dew drop to the cupcake to finish it off.

I love a good sketch challenge!

And since I am on holidays for a week and needed some inspiration it's a perfect time to play along in some challenges. Taylor has a great one for you this week over at her Taylored Expressions blog. Since it is her 'blogoversary' there are 9 different sketches created by various members of her cupcake crew and if you complete any or all of them, there are also some great prizes to be won! These sketches can also be used for layouts so if you are a scrapbooker and not a card maker, you can still play along.

I have made a start and have done 2 of the 9 so far and so here they are.

Supplies: cardstock in cool carribean, riding hood red, whisper white. Paper by Basic Grey. Stamp by Penny Black. Also used nestabilities, buttons, threading water punch, stitching, rubons.

Supplies: cardstock in marigold morning, riding hood red and whisper white. Stamp by Whipper Snapper designs and greeting by Stampin' Up! Paper by Kaiser, cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder, nestabilities templates and a few dew drops.

6 picture meme

My friend Rach tagged me in this, and I was curious to see what I would find!

First, the rules are simple. As follows:

1.Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2.Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3.Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4.Tag 6 other peoples that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Here is my picture and the story behind it:

This is a photo of Claudia taken on 17 January 2004. It was just taken in the bedroom of our old house in front of a window, and I remember at the time that I loved how the bright sun coming in through the lace curtains totally whited out and it looked like I had either cut her out of the photo or had her in front of a white backdrop ... but I didn't! I tried to replicate this effect again at a later date, but never quite got the same reults.

Now here are the 6 people I am tagging:

Karisma ... who is probably getting sick of these things! lol but she always has such great photos so I would love to see what she finds in her 6th folder.

Lee ... another keen photographer who will have no shortage of photos to share :)

Robyn (from Rainbows by Robyn) ... another fellow stamping addict :)

Dawn Stan ... a very talented scrapbooker and a constant source of inspiration to me for many reasons :)

Leigh (from Leigh's Obsession) ... also a West Australian like myself ... great people those West Aussies :)

Fiona (from Fab Creations) ... who was kind enough to award me with the Marie Antionette award recently, and is yet another talented stamper.

First layout for 2009!

Since I have been lacking in scrapping mojo for so long, I totally cased the background for this layout from the Basic Grey website after I saw another friend casing it! lol But I love how it turned out, even if it is a little pink.

Supplies: bazzill cardstock, Bittersweet papers by Basic Grey, alpha by cuttlebug, flowers by Stampin' Up! brads by Basic Grey. SU! circle scallop punch and border punch.

Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge #51

or TECC51 for short :) but since this is the first time I am posting one of these challenges, I figured I had better not abbreviate it for those of you that will have no clue what I'm talking about.
I finally got a chance to play with Taylors Friday Cupcake Sketch Challenge. You can check these out over at Taylored Expressions if you want to play along. Here is this week's sketch:

and here is my card. I can't wait to play again next week!

Supplies: Stampin' Up! Card in certainly celery, riding hood red and whisper white. Paper is Bittersweet by Basic Grey. Punches by hero arts (I think? need to double check that). Coloured with Prismacolour pencils and some glitter and buttons added.

Marie Antionette Blogging Award

How fun, Fiona from Fab Creations has kindly awarded me the Marie Antionette Award for my blog :) Thanks Fiona!

So I am to pass it on to 7 other wonderful bloggers ... and since I visit sooooo many blogs each day it is really hard to pick. But here goes ... in no particular order other than which link I found first :)

1. Pam's great Blah Blah Blog - Pam is my cybersister and does the best digi stuff ever!
2. Makeesha Byl - a fellow Aussie and wonderful Stamper.
3. My dear old friend Karisma - not stamp or scrap related, but always such a wonderful read! (and I don't mean old as in age, I mean old as in I have known her for a long time) :) Just wanted to clarify.
4. Gretchen's blog This n' That - her cards are just beautiful! They always manage to inspire me :)
5. Jennifer McGuire Ink ... if you are a stamper or scrapbooker I probably don't even need to explain why I love this one! Beautiful artist, and she posts such awesome tutorials.
6. Carrie over at Handle Life with Care. I first came across her work at 2Peas, and I always find her blog posts so inspirational. Even the non-scrap related ones!
7. Silke ... aka Sparklegirl over at SCS. Her work is beautiful and I always try and pop by her blog for a little bit of inspiration.

I could go on and on ... my list is huge! but I was told 7, so 7 it is :)

Now I am off to play with my stamps.

I want to play!

Don't you hate it when you just get into that creative zone and you have to pack up and go out? Not that I don't love socialising with friends but when I am on a roll I hate to stop. Oh well, off for a few drinks, a swim and some good conversation with friends then back to my stamp room. Hopefully not too late tonight! In the meantime, here is a quick card I did this morning. I made three of these.

Supplies: All card, paper, ribbon and stamps are Stampin' Up! Nestabilities templates and machne stitching also used.

I hope you are having a great weekend so far, and that you find the time to enjoy some you time to do whatever it is that makes you happy. And I thought I would share a photo of these beautiful Lillies I treated myself to when I was shopping. Aren't they so pretty?

Lucy's First 'Real' Haircut

Well I was very apprehensive when I dropped Lucy off for her first haircut today but after all the 40+ degree days we were having, I had to do something as she was so hot. But I was so thrilled when I picked her up, she looks great and feels like a puppy!! all those yukky matted bits are gone and I am sure she is going to be so much more comfortable now.

A couple more cards

While I'm uploading, here are the other two cards I did last night. These are both cases of cards that I had seen at Splitcoast Stampers and just had to make because I loved them so much.
Here is the link to the original card that I copied this first one from. All I really changed was the embossing folder and the colours http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1118041?cat=all&what=keywords&si=VSHR1

Supplies: Cardstock, square scallop punch and stamps by Stampin' Up! cuttlebug birds and swirls embossing folder, brads and ribbon.

Frog Stamp by Whipper Snapper Designs, I Love you and background stamps by Stampin' Up! Papers by Basic grey, card and hardware by stampin' Up! Image coloured with prismacolour pencils. Also used my rectangle nestabilities and added some stitching with the machine.

You get up for 5 minutes ....

I went outside to take some pics of my cards .... and this is what I found when I got back. I tell you, I can't leave my desk for five minutes or someone takes my spot :) She did make a beautiful card though. And please ignore the state of my desk .... creative mess I like to call it. LOL

And then, while outside taking pics of my cards the cat decides to have a sticky-beak too. She usually jumps right into the box with the card, lucky she didn't this time! (that is why my little box is a bit warped). I think I will invest in a 'real' one that is sturdier ... and a little bit bigger!
